Nicholas Mathey was hired as the new Sports Information Director on August 1, 2021. He joins the Birmingham-Southern Athletic Department after spending the past two years as a graduate assistant at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Calif.

During his time at PLNU Mathey oversaw all game day operations for Men's Soccer, Men's & Women's Tennis, and Baseball. Mathey also created a recruiting headquarters page for four of the 11 sports and was an integral part in helping put on the annual Sea Lion Classic golf outing. Mathey graduated from PLNU with a Master of Science in Kinesiology.

Prior to joining Point Loma, Mathey spent four years as a student worker at Aurora University. While at Aurora Mathey was the stat inputter for Football, Men's & Women's Soccer, and Hockey. He also called stats for Men's and Women's Basketball. Mathey graduated from Aurora with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Mathey has also been a media volunteer for the Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament at Torrey Pines in 2020 & 2021 and the Rose Bowl in 2020.
