Kevin Thomas joined the NJCAA National Office in June 2021 as the first Director of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. In a newly created position, Thomas will develop and lead association-wide diversity efforts that are inclusive of all aspects of personal identities. Thomas will also serve as the liaison between the National Office and various membership-led councils, including the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Council while leading the development of a nation-wide equity, diversity, and inclusion program for over 500 member colleges.

A graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, Thomas has 20 years of experience as a counselor and trainer in the field of human services. In his previous role as Education Coordinator with Mecklenburg County Public Health, he prioritized developing strategies, trainings, and resources that addressed equity and inclusion concerns focused on communities and families. Thomas combines strong leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate others. This contributes to his ability develop strong practices around cultural diversity and equity.
